Throughout my research an planning I have
done a lot of research on who my target audience is, after a lot of research I
have found that the genre that I wanted to do was indie. I found the main age
group that would be interested in an indie magazine are people aged from 15 to
21 years old. After this research I was able to get a clearer understanding of
my audience, because of this I now know what they are more likely to be
interested in for a magazine. The things I have had to take In to
consideration/ research more of. Over the the course I have had to go into to
more detail about about fashion and the different sub genres in the indie music
world. I had also been doing some research on UK tribes an I found that they
were very helpful in the fact that it gave me a better understanding of my
target audience, it especially helped with what my target audience likes to get
up to and any new talent. One thing I have mainly learnt from my research is
the audience’s love of gigs and concerts. As a result of this I have made sure
that my magazine will have a section of the magazine dedicated to gigs,
festivals and concerts that will be featured in every issue. After my research
I have found that my magazine and artist have to keep up with all the upcoming
trends for it to be successful. Fashion trends are also quite an important
trend to keep up with because audiences may think they're out dated if they don’t keep up/ set
trends therefore I have decided that for future shoots I will have a stylist
for the artists an bands. I will also make sure I am watching what other
competitors such as DIY music magazine are doing an watch their shifts in
trends.
My chosen artist fits in with the genre of
indie music; I like my artist to fit in with the indie rapper. He is wearing a
green alpha industries bomber jacket; this is usually known to be worn by rappers
and wealthy celebrities such as the Kardashians. Then the rest of his outfit is
mainly black with a hoody and joggers, supported by a Palace cap, palace is
known as an old school skating brand which has become quite ‘hyped’ up in the
coming years, the bran is another popular brand among the rappers industry. The
jacket my artist ‘Fin D-B’ is wearing is similar to the one that the artist
(Loyle Carner) is wearing in the image above as its quite big and a bit puffy.
Other similarities between my artist and Loyle Carner is that they are both
classed as indie rappers.
