Dear examiner,
During this process of creating my magazine I have learnt lots of new skills that are use daily in the media industry, it has massively improved my knowledge I know feel that I would be able to produce a product to a much higher standard than I would have been able to before. I have enjoyed this process and I hope you enjoy reading about it too.

question 6 draft

Over the course of creating my final piece I have learnt a lot about all different types of media interfaces. I have also been using quite a few new things and programs. For all my work I have been using an I mac and I feel like I know how to use one a lot better now than I used to be able to, one of the most important things I have learnt about using the mac is how to find things a lot easier, I have enjoyed the change from the normal windows computers that are used in school. A program that I had never touched before was photo shop and now I feel a lot more comfortable using the program. I have mainly been self taught as I feel that the best way for me to learn on computers, however when needed I have asked peers and teachers and in some cases where they wouldn’t know the answer I have used YouTube to see how other people have done what I want doing. In Photoshop I have been using different tools to make my final piece look a lot better. I can remember that I had to edit the skin of my artist a little as he had a pimple on his left cheek I did this by using the replacement tool and just making the spot to his normal skin colour. Also for my final front cover picture I didn’t like the lighting as it seemed to be dark over my artist so I ended up changing the brightness and contrast and was able to come out with a pretty even picture of the brightness. I also learnt how to use different layers and what they did; this was a new step for me, as I needed to learn about how to make it look perfect.  Over the course I made quiet a few mistakes in photo shop but I was able to fix them as I began to learn more about them.

When I was taking my photos I had four lamps that I had the option to use, for my different shots I would use different lighting. When I wanted a shadow effect I would turn the main lights of the room off and only use one or two lights depending on where I wanted the shadow to go. I would use different lighting to make the same image have looked different to create different effects. Some of my photos I used natural lighting and went outside. I just used an old red brick wall as my background and a tattered blue door as it fitted n with the genre as some of my target audience mentioned that they liked visiting abandoned buildings.

Another thing I have used a lot more of is blogger, I have rarely used blogger in the past only at the start of this school year was I introduced to it. I have learnt a lot about blogger during the beginning I was using blogger to write everything up, but I soon found that it was quite slow and it didn’t pick up on any missing punctuation and rarely corrected my words/ gave me options too. Therefore I have used Microsoft word to write everything up because I have had a lot of experience with it in the past and I knew it was very good at picking up on spelling mistakes. I have found blogger to be frustrating at times as it wasn’t very easy to do things but now I am use to it and I enjoy it a lot more than I used too, considering I would have never thought I would do blogging.
